Key Comments for FY2024
At YE 2024 The P&C is holding $220.6K of cash as at 30/Sept 2024.
Refer to the financial analysis table for the canteen and uniform shop performance.
Both canteen and uniform managers have been replaced in FY2024. New manager(s) have delivered on business improvement initiatives this year which has resulted in positive financial outcomes. I thank Loucine (canteen) and Alicia (uniform shop) for the great work and effort to better service the school community.
In FY2024 long service leave for 3 ex-staff were paid out totalling circa $7K. The P&C has no further impending long term service liability.
The school had it's first very successful fundraising initiative in 2024 since 2020. The overall net funds raised was over $26K.
As at 30 Sept 2024 the total P&C employee numbers are 5 (headcount) - canteen is 4 and uniform shop is 1.

Any Other Business
As part of the AGM process in November, the P&C appoints an auditor for 2025. Given the existing auditor has been in place for many years it was suggested that we should give serious consideration to changing. Meg Garrido has obtained a quote from a local auditor who works with other P&Cs. This will be presented at the AGM.
Meg Garrido was contacted by Tony Boatman from Bally Boys P&C. They are organising a social evening on 29th November and extended the invite to make this a joint event. This is to strengthen the relationship between Bally and Mackellar. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Meg will try to get the link into this week’s school newsletter.
Teacher’s raffle was run in Term 3 to say thank you to all the staff. Many local businesses generously donated items and many teachers took part. Thanks to the local community for their support.
The Mackellar Drama Production was last week. This involved almost 70 children as cast and crew. Chelsea Bahar ran auditions, casting, rehearsals, costumes and performances. Auditions ran for many weeks on Thursday evenings, 2 full day Sundays plus performance nights. This was a huge undertaking from Chelsea and the P&C want to acknowledge her huge personal contribution and thank her for providing our girls with the opportunity to perform.
There is an allowance in the P&C budget for the likes of thank you gifts for teachers, but it is believed to have been exhausted for 2024. This is something which can be looked at and updated for 2025,
There is no update on the Co-Ed Consultation. We are still expecting an official announcement later this year or early next year. Doug Price has been unofficially informed by his sources that the decision is that Mackellar and Balgowlah Boys will become Co-Ed. He indicated that if this is the case then Mackellar will fight the decision.
